June 5, 2006 - Revised 4th Edition available – summary of enhancements

Fedhealth will begin shipping a revised 4th Edition of "IT’S A DISASTER! …and what are YOU gonna do about it?" today 6/5/06. The following summarizes some additions and revisions …

--  Changed outside back cover to include informational bullets about contents of book (e.g. "Look inside to see how to...")

--  Added in 2005 disaster statistics and some new Facts & Figures

--  Added tips on programming "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) into cell phones

--  Suggested type of face masks to pack in kits (i.e. get ones with N95 rated particulate filter, if possible)

--  Expanded FIRES & WILDFIRES (install carbon monoxide detectors, beware of toxic gases like hydrogen cyanide, etc.)

--  Expanded NUCLEAR POWER PLANT EMERGENCY / NUCLEAR INCIDENT (new statistics, etc.)

--  Updated HEART PROBLEMS / CARDIAC ARREST Giving CPR steps under Basic First Aid to reflect new CPR procedures (30 compressions and 2 breaths or at least 100 compressions per minute) Information obtained from American Heart Association November 2005 Guidelines

--  Verified and updated U.S. Department of Homeland Security overview (as of May 2006)

--  Verified and updated FEMA Regional Offices (as of May 2006)

--  Verified and updated all U.S. State & Territory Emergency Management Offices - Dept names, addresses, ph#s & web sites (as of Apr 2006)

--  Verified and updated data, resources, and web links (as of May 2006)

--  Verified and added some ADDITIONAL RESOURCES & WEB SITES (more cool sites for Educators, Kids & Parents)

--  Added informational page about how to acquire additional books on last page

Revised 4th Edition still has 268 #’d pages (288 total) - inside cover + 9 pages in front available for customization .. or can add pages in back in large volume. Keeping same low price so it does NOT impact School Fundraiser and programs designed for First Responders and volunteers.
