May 9, 2002 - More 2nd Edition enhancements coming soon – summary of changes
Fedhealth is planning to release a revised version of the 2nd Edition of "IT’S A DISASTER! …and what are YOU gonna do about it?" in the coming months. The following summarizes the revisions to the 212-page manual (listed in the order they will appear)…
-- Moving CONTENTS section closer to front of book -- now easier to reference with new pagination
-- Adding new Disaster Facts & Figures thru April 2002
-- Inserting new U.S. National Poison Control 800 #
-- Including additional Canadian information under the "Nuclear Power Plant Emergency" section (info provided by Ontario Ministry of Public Safety & Security EMO’s "Provincial Nuclear Emergency Plan" Backgrounder)
-- Reminding Americans and Canadians to pay attention to "alerts" provided by the Office of Homeland Security and OCIPEP in the "Terrorism" section
-- Adding new FEMA initiative and new FEMA organization under "Mitigation Strategies for Businesses & Consumers" section (per FEMA announcements posted online in March & April 2002)
- Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program [PDM]
- Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration [FIMA]
-- Updating various State & Provincial contact information through May 2002 (about 30 offices had changes to ph#s, addresses, web sites, etc.)
-- Changing "Appendix A" from "Project Impact" to "Office of Homeland Security" (per White House & FEMA announcements posted online early 2002)

- Homeland Security Advisory System's color-coded "threat conditions"
- Office of National Preparedness
- Citizen Corps
-- Adding more "Additional Resources & Web Sites" in back of book
2nd Edition will still have 212 pages total. Estimated availability is late-June / early-July 2002 so please check back for updates.
