August 13, 2004 - Revised 3rd Edition available – summary of enhancements
Fedhealth will begin shipping a revised 3rd Edition of "IT’S A DISASTER! …and what are YOU gonna do about it?" next week. The following summarizes some additions and revisions (listed in order they’ll appear)…
-- Added 2003 disaster statistics and put in some new Facts & Figures as of May 2004
-- Added FloodSmart.gov under Flood Mitigation tips Updated NUCLEAR POWER PLANT EMERGENCY / NUCLEAR INCIDENT (e.g. statistics, Emergency Planning Zone data, etc.)
-- Revised radiation and WMD subjects in TERRORISM (still covers cyber attacks, 7 biological and 6 chemical agents [i.e. descriptions, how it spreads, signs & symptoms, and treatments on each agent], radiological threats / incidents (dirty bombs), tips on suspicious packages, plus what to do Before, During and After each type of incident.) Information obtained primarily from CDC, FBI, FEMA and Health Canada
-- Updated several topics and statistics in Basic First Aid like West Nile, SARS, etc. Verified and updated both American and Canadian Red Cross Programs & Services (as of May 2004)
-- Verified and updated all U.S. State & Territory Emergency Management Offices - Dept names, addresses, ph#s & web sites (as of May 2004)
-- Changed Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Emergency Preparedness (OCIPEP) to Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada (PSEPC)
-- Verified and updated PSEPC Regional offices and all Provincial & Territorial Emergency Measures Organizations - Dept names, addresses, ph#s & web sites (as of May 2004)
-- Verified Terrorist Threat Advisory System contains most recent suggestions for Residents and Businesses. Each color-code has tips on what individuals, families, business owners, and federal agencies should be doing at each threat level. (Data contributed by the District of Columbia Emergency Management Agency)
-- Verified and updated all web links throughout entire manual (as of May 2004)
Revised 3rd Edition still has 238 #’d pages (256 total) - inside cover + 7 blank pages in front for custom jobs – or can add pages as needed.
