April 8, 2008 - Reliability issues with smaller CDs We recently learned from some CD suppliers that both the small business card "hockey rink" CD and sometimes the mini-round CD are not very reliable when used by notebook computers. We then began testing our demo mini-round CD on our notebooks and found the same problem. The CD loads fine in our towers, however the auto-load program sometimes wouldn’t work on our notebooks. As of today 4/8/08 we are removing the business card CD as a customizable option from our site since our primary CD printer is also discontinuing that option from their line. For now we will continue to offer mini-round CDs as a customizable option (esp. in large volume), however we encourage groups to consider using a regular size CD-R (700 MB) since their reliability and performance is better.
Most often they run fine ~ about 25% of the time they do not. And it appears to only be an issue with notebook and laptop CD drives, not tower systems.
