September 8, 2009 - New 5th Edition is here! Summary of enhancements
Fedhealth will begin shipping our new 5th Edition of "IT’S A DISASTER! …and what are YOU gonna do about it?" today 9/8/2009 (several weeks sooner than expected!)
The following summarizes some enhancements:

-- Streamlined FAMILY EMERGENCY PLAN
-- Added some more suggested items in DISASTER SUPPLIES KIT
-- Alphabetized MITIGATION TIPS and added POWER LOSS MITIGATION (tips on generators)
-- Added brief explanation of WHO RESPONDS DURING A DISASTER OR EMERGENCY?
-- Added CIVIL DISTURBANCES OR CIVIL UNREST
-- Expanded EVACUATION (more safety tips for pets, social networking tips, etc.)
-- Expanded HURRICANES (more buzzwords, more safety tips, etc.)
-- Moved Nuclear Incident information into TERRORISM topic (but still have NUCLEAR POWER PLANT EMERGENCY as a topic)
-- Moved Appendix D "More About Nukes (You CAN Survive)…" data up into TERRORISM (i.e. topic reorganized to cover cyber plus chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear [CBRN] threats) plus added several links to learn more about NATIONAL SECURITY
-- Expanded WINTER STORMS & EXTREME COLD (more safety tips, etc.)
-- Added some more tips in GENERAL RECOVERY TIPS – AFTER A DISASTER
-- Expanded DEALING WITH DEATH OR MASS CASUALTIES
-- Explained HANDS-ONLY CPR (for adults only)
-- Expanded INFECTIOUS DISEASES (added Swine flu and C. diff, more tips on reducing the spread of I.D.s, etc.)
-- Verified and updated all U.S. State & Territory Emergency Management Offices - Department names, addresses, phone #s & web sites (as of 2009)
-- Verified and updated all Provincial & Territorial Emergency Management Offices - Department names, addresses, phone #s & web sites (as of 2009)
-- Expanded "Pandemic Planning" in APPENDIX B – BUSINESS CONTINUITY section
-- Removed APPENDIX E – Any County Emergency Preparedness Outline (mainly since book is written primarily for families and businesses). Data is now available here
-- Verified and updated data, resources, and web links throughout book (as of Aug 2009)
-- Streamlined data throughout manual both shortening and expanding topics so more user-friendly.
